trees will clap

(^^^ LISTEN ^^^)

i've always loved the song, Trees Will Clap, that we sing at the Crossing. it's super catchy and you can't help but tap your foot and smile when you sing it. it's based off the the following verse:

Isaiah 55:12
You will go out in joy
and be led forth in peace;
the mountains and hills
will burst into song before you,
and all the trees of the field
will clap their hands.

when we sang it at church today though, something was different. God placed vivid imagery in my mind that i can't help but share. open the song in a new tab, press play, close your eyes (after you read), and imagine this:

(but really, play the song while you read this or it'll be a little hard to grasp)

you're on a harbor (in alaska of course) and you're surrounded by gorgeous pine and spruce trees. there are eagles soaring and the snow capped mountains stretch for miles. there's a light breeze and you can feel the warmth of the sun on your skin. the mist of the ocean kisses your face and you begin to praise God for His absolute beauty. when all of the sudden, the trees start clapping! they're clapping their branch arms and swaying back and forth to a bluegrass beat. (picture the trees in wizard of oz, but praising God!!) then the mountains start singing. i know it's bizarre guys, but these awe-worthy creations were hand molded by the Lord! so while the trees are clapping, the mountains singing songs of praise, singing out holy, holy, holy and alleluia to their maker, the oceans start to hymn (i like to think they're harmonizing) with the mountains! can you even imagine it?! these beautiful, massive mountains singing in harmony, the most beautiful tune, with the ocean! the vast, deep, abounding ocean!!!! and the trees are still clapping and the eagles soaring and praising God with their eagle voices. and the whales are praising too guys (i might lose you on this one, but seriously, close your eyes while listening to the song and imagine beautiful, majestic humpbacks swimming and singing praises to the Lord that created them). picture the mountain goats and the salmon and the bears, all glorifying the Lord in harmony. all the creations of the earth in a giant symphony, singing joyful hymns of thanks and praise to the One who created us all.

now close your eyes and picture it. play the song over again if you need to. can you vaguely picture it? can you feel the joy?? can you help but smile?
God is so cool guys.

oh sweet Lord, i thank you for your absolute beauty. what a joy it is to be surrounded by your handmade creations. undeaf our ears and help us to seek you. fill the earth with your joy Father, and lead us up and further into your love. help us to understand that your mercy reigns without end. oh how we are thankful Lord. forgive us for being distracted and for not trusting in you and your sovereignty.
