slacking

there's a reason why I'm not a journalism major. I'm not a big writer. I'd love to be an inspirational blogger like some of the women I follow, but it's just not going to happen. I went to Guatemala in July. It's currently 3 days until November. So here it is:

I AM A SLACKER.

Okay, not really. But I am a busy college student taking difficult classes, attempting to maintain a relationship, trying to stay involved, all while fitting in food and sleep and sometimes watching Bones. Okay, always watching Bones. 

I apologize for the excuses. Blogging is just not top priority for me. BUT, I do enjoy it. It's a little rambley and chaotic, and I have way too many run on sentences -- but who cares. 

Here are some of my favorite memories so far this year. 

          First home game of the year!          
   These two boys are some of the     sweetest people I've met at Mizzou and I am so thankful for them!


Nicholas and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary at a Cardinals game! (:



I went home for a weekend and went to the Tulsa State Fair! We ate shark on a stick, fried PB&J, and fried cheese curds. So basically I gained 15 pounds - SO WORTH IT


I got to volunteer at the D&D Animal Farm and met this sassy tiger! 



Nick & I have a thing for corn mazes. This is our second one this fall! We also got to pick our own pumpkins from a field, ride a hay ride, and pet Clydesdale horses! 

Overall, life is grand and I am so thankful to be where I am today. I'll try and update more often, and I'll eventually post my Guatemala pictures! (:

sometimes you sit alone, in a hot room with bugs crawling on the walls and think to yourself what in sam heck am i doing here??? you might find yourself feeling alone and sweaty and just wanting to go to bed, but alas, it's only 7pm and you probably couldn't fall asleep yet anyways. so when i turned on spotify and one of my favorite songs came on singing the lyrics: "Hallelujah! a update to my last blog

in my last blog post i wrote about how as Christians we're called to follow Christ no matter the cost.  i wrote a little on this passage: The Cost of Following Jesus: Luke 9:57-62 57  As they were going  along the road,  someone said to him, “I will follow you wherever you go.”   58  And Jesus said to him,  “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.”   59  To another he said,  “Follow me.”  But he said, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.” 60  And Jesus [ g ]  said to him,  “Leave  the dead to bury their own dead. trees will clap

https://soundcloud.com/crossingsongs/trees-will-clap-live (^^^ LISTEN ^^^) i've always loved the song, Trees Will Clap, that we sing at the Crossing. it's super catchy and you can't help but tap your foot and smile when you sing it. it's based off the the following verse:  Isaiah 55:12 You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands. when we sang it at church today though, something was different. God placed vivid imagery in my mind that i can't help but share. open the song in a new tab, press play, close your eyes (after you read), and imagine this: (but really, play the song while you read this or it'll be a little hard to grasp) you're on a harbor (in alaska of course) and you're surrounded by gorgeous pine and spruce trees. there are eagles soaring and the snow capped mountains stretch for miles. t
